Frontier RC Club Rules
The following rules and
regulations have been created to ensure the safety of pilots and aircraft
operating at Frontier Airpark as well as the residents, guests and property
within the airpark.
- Full size aircraft have
the right of way. Every effort must be made by model pilots to avoid
conflicts with aircraft or interfering with their projected flight path or
ground track, even if this means intentionally crashing the model to avoid
conflict.
-
Models must be on the ground and off the
runway before an aircraft taxis onto the runway or enters the short-final leg
of their landing approach.
-
Solo pilots must be current members of the
Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and follow AMA rules and guidelines.
Pilots receiving training using a “buddy box” controlled by a Frontier RC Club
member with AMA membership are not required to be members of the AMA until
they fly solo.
-
Pedestrians/spectators, and ground vehicles
have the right of way and models in flight should maintain separation from
vehicles and pedestrians by at least 200 feet.
-
Models in flight should maintain at least 150
feet of separation from buildings.
-
Model aircraft should not exceed 400 feet of
altitude.
-
Model pilots must monitor local air traffic
and notify conflicting traffic of model flight operations using an aircraft
radio tuned to 122.9.
-
Models should utilize a taxiway or grass area
for takeoffs and landings.
-
For optimal safety, only one aircraft should
be flown at a time. If more than one aircraft are flown simultaneously, each
pilot must have their own spotter.
-
Model pilots should take turns flying their
models and limit each flight to approximately 15 minutes to ensure everyone
has the opportunity to fly.
-
Model aircraft will not be willfully or
deliberately flown in a careless, reckless and/or dangerous manner.
-
Models will not be flown in the presence of
spectators until it is proven to be airworthy and safe.
-
Radio equipment for models on the ground must
not be operated if the frequency/channel is the same as one being utilized by
a model in the air.
-
Frontier Airpark facilities are only to be
used for RC model aircraft flight by Frontier RC Club members or guests
personally supervised by a member.
-
All members must provide their own spotter and
a spotter must always be used to watch for full size aircraft.
-
Frontier RC club members assume liability for
their actions and the actions of their invited guests, and this liability
supercedes the liability of the property owner where the flying is taking
place. Any expenses incurred due to an accident not covered by AMA liability
insurance are the responsibility of the pilot in command. When using a “buddy
box,” the pilot in command is the pilot giving instruction.
-
Model pilots and their guests must remove any
trash or debris when they leave the flying area and are responsible for
repairs to any damage incurred to Frontier Airpark facilities.
-
Any and all debris that lands on the runway or
taxiway must be picked up as soon as safely possible.
-
Damage to any model provided by the club for
member use is the responsibility of the pilot in command.
-
Breach of these rules and regulations may
result in revocation of member status with model flying privileges temporarily
or permanently revoked.
Special rules
for club events may supercede the rules above and will be clearly posted at the
event.
